Commissioned Collections

The Macallan Distillery - Craigellachie, Speyside, 2015 - 2017

I am presently working at the construction site of the new Macallan Distillery in Scotland. Collecting discarded objects, from Russian sweet-wrappers to the heavy metal teeth of a digger, these objects will add a simple narrative to a complex, state-of-the-art build. By saving the objects before they disappear underground I am acting as an archeologist is reverse. How each artefact will be presented is as yet undecided but my collection of over 200 single gloves will be presented in a vitrine on permanent exhibition in the visitors centre.

Hospital Rooms - Springfield Hospital, London, 2016

‘Hospital Rooms’ commissioned ten artists to make work for a residential schizophrenia unit in Springfield Hospital, London.  Working in collaboration with the photographer Mark Power, we decided to work within a one-mile radius of the Hospital. I collected discarded objects and Mark took photographs of urban trees. Since both trees and rubbish are generally overlooked we have sought to demonstrate the diversity and beauty of each.

We then made wallpaper using a checkerboard of 36 different images repeated over and over.

Other work

As well as working with collections I also work with people. Much of my career has been spent making large structures for outdoor community events and as a creative educator. I continue with this line of work but on a part-time basis.
